Beaver Creek Lodge Goes Green Offsetting 100% of Electricity Use with Renewable Energy Credits
Hotel Commits to Sustainability and Ecological Initiatives for 2008, and Beyond BEAVER CREEK, CO (May 20, 2008) – Beaver Creek Lodge, Beaver Creek's prominent AAA Four-Diamond hotel and the village's only luxury all-suite boutique hotel, commits to protecting precious natural resources by purchasing renewable energy and instituting hotel-wide green initiatives.
Beaver Creek Lodge signed an agreement with Renewable Choice Energy of Boulder, CO to offset 100 percent of its power with Renewable Energy Credits (RECs). Purchasing these credits ensures that the amount of electricity used at Beaver Creek Lodge is offset with renewable energy which is placed back onto the national energy grid to replace the electricity used at the boutique hotel.
Simon Chen, general manager of Beaver Creek Lodge states: “By teaming with Renewable Choice Energy and implementing our other eco-initiatives, we are helping to protect our precious resources and sustain the beautiful natural surroundings that guests come here to enjoy.”
In addition to supporting the generation of renewable energy projects, Beaver Creek Lodge has taken the following steps to help protect their environment and promote sustainability:
|
• Installing energy-efficient light bulbs in all guestrooms • Using programmable thermostats throughout the hotel • Conserving water using low-flow toilets and conservation faucets • Promoting “paperless” business whenever possible through electronic file storage, online invoicing, and electronic payroll statements • Supporting sustainable, local, organic purveyors for food service • Creating eco-friendly meeting options to meet The Green Meeting Industry Council objectives and will soon be introducing “Green Meeting” packages.
| The hotel's 72 one-bedroom guest suites feature a mountain chic décor comprised of oversized headboards, commissioned artwork by French artist Jean Claude Roy, cozy pillow-top mattresses, down comforters, a LCD flat screen TV, DVD/CD player, and Bose® Wave CD radio. The Beaver Creek Lodge also features the Grand Bohemian Art Gallery, 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, fitness center, outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room, concierge and valet parking. An array of outdoor and leisure activities are also available, including skiing, golf, mountain biking, kayaking and hiking.
